Lead Me to the Rock

by Katina Long

In the wake of the 2016 election, many of us have been balls of emotion. We continue to waver between fear and anxiety to insecurity and powerlessness. Well today, Psalm 61 was on repeat! At first, I didn’t fully comprehend the message in my spirit but now I do! I guess you can say it led me to pen and paper.

Here are few practical things that this message has inspired me to put into play immediately to get me through these times:

  1. Actively pray about the emotions that try to overwhelm me each date. Too long have I been reactive. I need to allow God to attend unto my prayer so that I can have peace.
  2. Plan. For me, that means making a plan for my business, my family, and my finances. I’ve learned that the best way to combat my many emotions is to focus on my plans and my goals. I have to trust that God is my shelter and a strong tower from the enemy (Psalm 61:3) so I will work hard continue to live life to the fullest.
  3. Focus on my multiple streams of income. Well, I guess this one is self-explanatory. I don’t have time to sit on my dreams. Nor do I have time to ignore the uncertainty of our economy.
  4. Trust God. I know I have said this before but this one is so easy to say but not easy to do. I feel like this time we are in was meant to draw us into a relationship with God and not religion. How can he lead me to the rock that is higher than I if I don’t have a relationship with him that allows me to trust him in all that I do? I need to trust that he hears my cry and will react.

Well, I feel better already! Let’s get started!
